Super Eagles combative midfielder, Nwankwo Obiora will today be filling out for his Portuguese side, Academica as they travel to take on Benfica at the 65,647-capacity Estadio do Sport Lisboa. This fixture will see a modest Academica side take on league leaders Benfica in what appears to be a one-side contest but then, football is no mathematics.
Benfica currently sit atop the Portuguese Primeira Liga table with 68 points after 27 matches closely followed by Porto with 65 points in the second place while Academica only recently climbed a bit farther away from the relegation zone sitting now in the 14th position with 27 points on the 18-team league table.
Though he has been largely sidelined by national team selection despite being a member of the all-conquering Eagles team that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa, Obiora has become a key player for Academica and has featured in 23 league games for the modest Portuguese side. Only last weekend, the 23-year old Obiora played the entire duration of the game as Academica played out a goalesss draw at home to visiting Rio Ave.
