Former Nigeria and Africa light welterweight Boxing champion, Obisia Nwakpa, has advised Nigeria's Commonwealth middleweight title hopeful Rasheed Abolaji (aka Afonja Warrior) not to be overconfident going into the bout, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Abolaji will face Sam Sheedy of England for the vacant Commonwealth middleweight title in England on Friday, 24th March 2017.
In a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com, Nwakpa, who won the Commonwealth title in 1979 and also won gold at the Commonwealth Games in 1974 in Christchurch, New Zealand, warned Abolaji to talk less but instead focus more on the fight.
"My advice for Afonja Warrior is that he must respect his opponent," Nwakpa said.
"He shouldn't go around boasting that he will knock him out because as he has been preparing, so also his opponent has been preparing.
"Though in boxing, sometimes it is good to boast because it is good for morale. It is part of the science of boxing, you use it to suppress and demoralise your opponent."
Nwakpa who was World Boxing Council light welterweight number one contender in 1980 and 1981, also warned Abolaji on his fitness ahead of the fight.
He added:"I will advise him to make sure he is very fit because it is very important. Because without being fit, he doesn't stand a chance."REVERSE ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION Within 3Days And Make Her Happy Again!! Guaranteed!!! All NATURAL! No Side-Effects! Click Here!now.
