Super Eagles defender, Godfrey Oboabona, believes the team will get better under the tutelage of current handler of the side, Sunday Oliseh, completesportsnigeria.com can report.
The three-time African champions failed to impress in the former Ajax Amsterdam of Holland midfielder's debut game in charge as they needed a combination of luck and great goalkeeping efforts by Carl Ikeme to secure a point against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
And even though they put up a better display few days later in a 2-0 friendly win against Niger Republic in Port Harcourt, many are still not convinced the team has what it takes to attain the heights of the past.
Rizespor of Turkey defender Oboabona however insists the team will improve with more matches under Oliseh.
"We are getting to understand the coach (Sunday Oliseh) more now and I believe the team will improve in subsequent games," Oboabona told completesportsnigeria.com.
"The coach like other coaches has his own philosophy which we have to adapt to.
"The two friendlies against Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon is a big opportunity for us to get together again and improve as a team.
"With time we will get stronger again and people we start seeing a new Super Eagles."
