By Adeboye Amosu: Godfrey Oboabona is disappointed he won't be part of Nigeria's men's football squad at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Rizespor of Turkey centre- back was initially short-listed in the 35-man provisional squad by head coach of the side, Samson Siasia.
He however opted out of the squad after his club failed to release him for the Games.
The former Sunshine Stars of Akure player told Completesportsnigeria.com that he hoped to get the chance to participate in the Games in future.
"I was looking forward to playing at the Olympics, but my club's refusal to allow me join the team has put paid to that,"Oboabona told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"It's the biggest sporting event in the world and it would have been nice to be part of the team.
"I hope I will get the chance to be a part the Olympics in future."
