Oboabona: We’ll do Better Against Tanzania

By Bamidele Boluwaji:

Super Eagles defender Godfery Oboabona believes that the 2-0 victory over Chad in Saturday’s 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna will go a long way in helping Nigeria to qualify for the African showpiece billed to hold in Gabon.

The Turkey based former Sunshine Star defender said though the Chadians proved difficult in the match, he is confident that the Super Eagles will work harder to ensure they beat Tanzania in September.

“It was a bit difficult match for us but we were still able to get the three points we needed from the match. It was a good result for us but we will continue to work hard and make sure we beat Tanzania in our next game”, says the Super Eagles defender
“This is our first match and one will expect that we spend some time to get into the game but I want to assure Nigerians that Nigeria will be in Gabon for the Nations Cup.

Oboabona who was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the AFCON in 2013 in South Africa further told Complete Sports that he remains committed to the senior national team and will be ready to play for Nigeria any time he is called upon.

“I am a Nigerian and I will always be ready to play for my country any time I am called upon. It is a great honour to play for this great nation.

Meanwhile, Nigeria will play Tanzania in September while both Egypt and Chad slug it out in match Day 2 of the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
