–Musa’s goal drought extends to six games; Mikel returns, Omeruo Missing

ENGLAND

John Mikel Obi (Chelsea): Nigerian midfielder John Mikel Obi was handed a cameo apperance for Chelsea when he replaced Cesc Fabregas in the Blues’ 1-0 win over Manchester United on Saturday. Wins in their next two games against Arsenal at the Emirates and against Leicester City would wrap up the Barclays Premier League crown with room to spare.

Odion Ighalo (Watford): Super Eagles and Watford striker Odion Ighalo replaced Matej Vydra in the 55th minute in Watford’s 1-0 win over Birmingham City on Saturday. Ighalo has 18 goals in 31 Championship appearances for the Hornets.

Brown Ideye, Victor Anichebe (West Brom): Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe fired blanks in West Brom’s 2-0 win away at Crystal Palace. Anichebe took Brown Ideye’s place in the starting X1 to make his 19 appearances this term, scoring five goals while injured Ideye has seven goals in 24 games.

Shola Ameobi (Crystal Palace): Nigerian striker Shola Ameobi was an unused substitute for Crystal Palace. He has made only one substitute appearance for the Eagles.

Hope Akpan, Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Reading): Former Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni replaced Pavel Pogrebnyak in the 111th minute of Reading’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. His compatriot Hope Akpan was an unused substitute. Akpan has made 20 appearances as against Yakubu’s six for Steve Clark’s side.

Kenneth Omeruo (Middlesbrough): Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo was not listed for Middlesbrough who edged Norwich by a lone goal in promotion battle. He has made 17 Championship appearances.

SCOTLAND

Efe Ambrose (Celtic): Edward Ofere (Inverness): Nigerian striker Edward Ofere was on target for Inverness as they defeated Efe Ambrose’s Celtic to qualify for their first William Hill Scottish Cup final with a 3-2 win as the Hoops’ treble hopes ended in controversy.

Virgil van Dijk gave Celtic the lead with a superb free-kick but Greg Tansey’s penalty and a sublime strike from Ofere put Inverness 2-1 up. John Guidetti equalised, but David Raven had the final say when he scored a dramatic extra-time strike to earn his side the win.

UKRAINE

Michael Babatunde (Volyn): Nigerian winger Michael Babatunde played all 90 minutes for Volyn who shocked Dynamo Kiev with a 1-0 win. The former Kryvbas star has now played seven games in 2015.

Lukman Haruna (Horvela): Nigerian midfielder Lukman Haruna did not feature for Horvela who played out a 1-1 draw against Chernomorets. The Dynamo Kiev loanee has made four appearances since arriving at the club.

FRANCE

Vincent Enyeama (Lille): Vincent Enyeama was on for all 90 minutes as his French club Lille beat Bordeaux 2-0 on Sunday. The Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper has now conceded 27 goals in 32 Ligue 1 games this season therefore keeping 14th clean sheet.

Elderson Echiejile (AS Monaco): Nigerian defender Elderson Echiejile played his 12th Ligue 1 game of the season for AS Monaco who defeated Reims 1-0 on Saturday. He has scored once this season for the fourth placed team on the French log.

RUSSIA

Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow): Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa extended his goal drought to six games after firing blanks in CSKA Moscow’s 1-1 draw at home to Krasnodar. Musa who has scored nine times in 25 appearances last scored in his side’s 2-1 win against Terek Grozny where he bagged a brace on 7th of March.

ITALY

Ogenyi Onazi (Lazio): Nigerian midfielder Ogenyi Onazi was an unused substitute for Lazio who lost 2-0 to champions-elect Juventus at the Olimpico stadium. Onazi has made 14 Serie A appearances so far this term.

Joel Obi (Inter Milan): Super Eagles midfieldder Joel Obi watched from the bench as Inter Milan played against city rivals AC Milan at the Sansiro stadium. He has played ten times for the Nerrazzuri scoring once.

Nnamdi Oduamadi (Latina): Nigerian winger Nnamdi Oduamadi came on for Najib Ammari in the 73rd minute in Latina’s 2-1 loss at home to Catania. It was his 10th appearance for Mark Iulliano’s side albeit scoring once.

SPAIN

Ramon Azeez (Almeria): Super Eagles to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil Ramon Azeez made way for Antonio Mendez in Almeria’s 2-0 loss away to Rayo Vallecano. It was the 15th La Liga game for Azeez.

TURKEY

Godfrey Oboabona (Rizespor): Nigerian defender played all 90 minutes and was booked in Rizespor’s 3-1 loss to Istanbul Basaksehir on Sunday. Oboabona has one goal in 16 games so far.

John Utaka (Sivasspor): Isaac Promise (Balikesirspor): Former Nigerian forward John Utaka was replaced by Musa Sinan Yilmazer in the 61st minute of Sivasspor’s 1-1 draw at home to Balikesirspor who paraded Isaac Promise for 86 minutes. Utaka who has played 18 games in the Turkish Super Lig has scored four goals. For Promise, it was his sixth appearance since joining the club on a free transfer in January.

GREECE

Abduljeleel Ajagun (Panathinaikos): Former Flying Eagles skipper Abduljeleel Ajagun was on for 90 minutes but couldn’t prevent his team from losing 2-1 away to Panthrakikos. The former Dolphins player was however yellow-carded on 33rd minute. He has appeared 24 times this season, scoring four goals.

Christian Obodo (Xanthi) Michael Olaitan (Ergotelis): Former Nigeria midfielder Christian Obodo was a 71st minutes entrant for Walter Balufo and got booked in the 78th minute as Xanthi lost 1-0 at home to Ergotelis. It was his 26th of the season, netting two goals. His Nigerian counterpart Michael Olaitan was replaced by Greg Houla in the 61st minute. The former Flying Eagles player was booked in the 31st minute.

Daniel Adejo (Kalloni): Nigerian defender Daniel Adejo played for 90 minutes as his side lost 2-0 to Panaitolikos. It was Adejo’s 29th, scoring two goals.

BELGIUM

Wilfred Ndidi (Genk): Nigerian defender Wilfred Ndidi was on from the start but was replaced by Sekou Cisse in the 63rd minute. Ndidi who has now played three times so far, was booked in the 83rd minute.

Moses Simon (Gent), Imoh Ezekiel (Standard Liege): One-cap Super Eagles striker Imoh Ezekiel saw action for 90 minutes as Standard Liege lost 3-1 at home to Gent. The game was Ezekiel’s seventh, grabbing four goals. Meanwhile, Gent’s Moses Simon was not dressed for the encounter.

ISRAEL

Kayode Olanrewaju (Maccabi Netanya) and Juwon Oshaniwa, Yero Bello (Ashdod): Former junior international Olanrewaju Kayode featured for 90 minutes as his team played a 0-0 draw against Ashdod. The game was his 27th, finding the back of the net 11 times. Ashdod’s Juwon Oshaniwa was an unused substitute while his Nigerian team-mate, Yero Bello was on throughout the encounter.

SLOVAKIA
Rabiu Ibrahim, Kingsley Madu and Emmanuel Edmond (Trencin): Former junior international Rabiu Ibrahim scored the only goal as Trencin pipped Spartak Trnava 1-0. He was later replaced by Stanislav Lobotka in the 81st minute. He has now scored four goals in 11 appearances. His Nigerian team-mate Emmanuel Edmond came on for Gino Van Kessel on 86th minutes.

SWEDEN

John Owoeri (Atvidaberg): Former Flying Eagles star John Owoeri was on from the start as his side defeated visiting Falkenberg 3-1. Owoeri later went off for Alberis Silva in the 77th minute. He has scored just one goal in four outings
