By Johnny Edward:
Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu is adamant Nigeria will sustain their momentum when they face Tanzania Dar Es Salaam in their next game but concedes that Lazio star Ogenyi Onazi will be missed.
Onazi was sent off with 10 minutes left for reacting unruly to an elbow charge and is set to miss the Eagles’ next three games.
Ogu who came on for the last five minutes of Nigeria’s 2-0 home win over Chad told completesportsnigeria.com that the coaching crew will draft in an adequate replacement for the midfielder.
“He will be missed, although I’m sure there will good replacements,” Ogu said. “We should be very competitive. We have started well and must maintain
that balance of winning.
“With the new players in the team we should have no problems qualifying for Gabon 2017. For me this is a new era and this should be a very good moment for our football.
“We want to win — that is always the aim from the outset.”
