Ogu Hits First League Goal; Iwobi, Simon, Ambrose Benched

Nigerian midfilder John Ogu was the hero for his club Hapoel Be’er Sheva as he scored the winning goal in their 2-1 home win against Hapoel Ironi Kiryat in the Israeli league on Sunday.
Ovidiu Stefan put Be’er Sheva ahead in the third minute, but a 20th minute equalizer by Ofir Mizrachi drew the visitors level.
But Ogu struck his first goal of the season on 94 minutes to give Be’er Sheva the win.

Also on Sunday, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon was an unused substitute for Gent who won 2-0 away to St. Truiden in the Belgian league.
Goals from Brecht Dejaeghere and Hannes Van der Bruggen in the 45th and 90th minutes gave Gent the victory.
In the English Premier League, Victor Anichebe was left on the bench for 90 minutes by Tony Pulis whose West Brom side held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
Jordan Herderson and Divock Origi scored for Liverpool, while Craig Dawson and Jonas Olsson struck for the Baggies.

Nigerian forward Joseph Akpala was introduced for Knowledge Musona in the 74th minute as Oostende held Anderlecht to a 0-0 draw in Belgium.
On the bench for Anderlecht was Imoh Ezekiel who was not given a look-in by his coach throughout the duration of the match.
In Greece, Abduljeleel Ajagun was on the bench for 90 minutes in Panathinaikos’ 2-0 home win against Asteras Tripolis.
Nikos Karelis and Nikolaos Kaltas were on target for Panathinaikos.
Nigerian duo Ugo Ukah and Daniel Adejo were in action for their club Kalloni, who lost 1-0 away to Atromitos.
Ukah was on for 90 minutes, Adejo was introduced for Kenan Bargan with 10 minutes left in the match.
And in the Dutch Eredivisie, Nigerian forward Abiola Dauda was an 87th minute entrant for Denis Oliynyk as Vitesse held Heracles to a 1-1 draw.

In England, Nigerian youngster Alex Iwobi was an unused substitute for Arsenal in their 2-0 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
Olivier Giroud put Arsenal ahead in the eighth minute from the penalty spot after Theo Walcott was fouled by Alan Hutton. Aaron doubled Arsenal’s lead on 38 minutes off an assist from Mezut Ozil.
Iwobi’s only Premier League appearance for Arsenal so far was in their 3-0 away win against Swansea City.
In the French Ligue 1, Super Eagles left-back, Elderson Echiejile, saw action for 90 minutes as AS Monaco defeated Saint-Etienne 1-0.
The only goal of the game came off Fabinho, who converted an 82nd minute penalty.
Efe Ambrose was an unused substitute as Scottish champions Celtic beat St. Johnstone 3-0 away.
Goals from Nadir Ciftci (brace) and Dedryck Boyata secured the win for Celtic.
In Greece, Nigerian striker Brown Ideye featured for 90 minutes but didn’t get on the score sheet for Olympiakos, who beat Panaitolikos 1-0.
A 45th minute goal by Alejandro Dominguez decided the encounter.
Former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni was benched for Kayserispor who beat Akhisar Belediye 3-2.
Still in Turkey, Michael Eneramo was in action for Sivasspor in their 1-0 win away to Genclerbirligi.
Eneramo, who later went off for Yekta Kurtulus in the 73rd minute, was yellow-carded on 48 minutes.
