Nigeria and Watford striker Odion Ighalo has confirmed that a novelty game will be played in honour of his late father, Paul Ighalo, at the Navy Town football pitch in Lagos, Completesportnigeria.com reports.
The game which is tagged Ighalo and Friends vs the Ajegunle All Stars will kick off by 4pm on Sunday.
Ighalo told the media in Lagos that Brown Ideye whom he grew up in Lagos suburb Agejunle, John Ogu; Raheem Lawal, Michael Babatunde and Ogenyi Onazi will play for his side.
He also revealed that his late coach Stephen Keshi will be honoured with a minute silence before the game.
Ighalo added that IfeanyiUbah FC Chairman, Ifeanyi Ubah, will bankroll the event.
"After the international friendly game in Luxembourg I told my friends about it and most of them gave their words," Ighalo told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"The date for my father's final burial has not been fixed yet but I want to create a forum to really tell the world about his exit.
"Due to my job, I may not be there when the date is fixed but I want to try and give back to the society where I grew up."
Ighalo also extolled the virtues of his late father whom he regards as a 'father of many' before he died.
