Nigerian midfielder John Ogu has admitted that the Super Eagles were far from their best in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against South Africa in Nelspruit.
The Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder, who was making a return to the Eagles fold after a year absence, told Complete Sports in an exclusive interview that he wasn’t satisfied with his performance in the draw at Nelspruit.
Ogu replaced Kingsley Sokari in the Sunday’s match but failed to sparkle for the Eagles who could only pick a draw from the international friendly match.
“I am not happy with my performance in the match and I’m off to Israel from here,” Ogu who was booked in the 51st minute began.
“But I’m confident that the Eagles will get better in subsequent games,” he assured.
A last gasp goal from Bongani Zungu earned South Africa a 1-1 draw against Nigeria who shot into the lead courtesy of an Ahmed Musa stunner at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday afternoon.
It would be recalled that the Bafana Bafana dominated most of the game as Andile Jali was denied from the spot by impressive Daniel Akpeyi.
The same Bafana Bafana, it would also be recalled stopped Nigeria from featuring in the 2015 African Cup of Nation.
