Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan handler, Gbenga Ogunbote has described Taraba United as a difficult team despite forcing them to a 1-1 draw in a Glo Premier League match played on Saturday in Makurdi.
The former Sunshine Stars coach who will be hosting his former club, Sharks of Port Harcourt, in another fixture on Wednesday in Ibadan, said it was a difficult game for his boys but they gave their best to ensure they picked an away point in the match.
The home team appeared coasting to their first win in four games when Lawal, who had come on as a 71st minute substitute for Olukanmi, drove home a free kick from the edge of the area in the 87th minute to pull a draw for the Oluyole Warriors.
Speaking to Complete Sports, Ogunbote said: ”I want to thank God for the draw because it is not easy travelling away to pick a draw and I must also commend the efforts of the players for fighting till the end of the match, we thought they had won until we got the opportunity to equalize less than five minutes to the end of the game, it was huge for us and we hope to build on that”.
“I must also be honest to tell you that Taraba was not an easy team, they played us very well but we were just determined to pick a point from the match. We are not going to stop at that and what this means is that we still need to work harder because for now, the league is still open and with hard work, I am sure that these players can be the best" concludes Ogunbote.
Ogunbote however believes that position on the league table for now does not matter, but the efforts put into it to ensure encouraging results in the remaining games matter to him.
The Ibadan war lords now have 14 points and are on 13th position though they have an outstanding game.Watch The Premier League Live!! with EXPRESSVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
