Former Enugu Rangers coach, Okey Emordi, is understood to be interested in returning to the club as new technical adviser in the 2015/2016 Glo Nigeria Professional Football League season, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Emordi handled Kano Pillars in the concluded season but was relieved of his managerial responsibilities mid-season, with Ahmed Babaganaru filling the void.
Completesportsnigeria.com checks at the Flying Antelopes reveal that amidst the expected sweeping changes Enugu State government, financiers of the club, want to make in the club following their dismal performance in the last season, Emordi has emerged as the frontline candidate for the coaching job.
"Emordi is already a candidate for the coaching job at Rangers for the coming season," an official of Rangers told Completesportsnigeria.com without wanting to be named in print.
"We are expecting an announcement by government as to a new management for Rangers which they have kept pending the conclusion of the season.
"But while that has been on the waiting list, Emordi has been making contacts with influential people in government to have a smooth journey back to Rangers."
Emordi was replaced by Kelechi Emeteole at Rangers prior to the start of the concluded season.
But Emeteole did not last the one season duration of his contract as he was shown the exit door after match day 9, ensuring that ex-junior international goalkeeper, Imama Amakapabo, was elevated to the status of technical adviser with Duke Udi as his assistant.
Rangers merely survived relegation following a 3-1 defeat of Bayelsa United on the final day of the season.
