Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon believes that reigning African Woman Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala will be a good addition to the Liverpool Ladies as she signed for the English club last week.
Okon who led Nigeria’s women team to win the last African Women’s Championship with Oshoala in the squad said he has always believed in the talent of the player, saying playing for Liverpool Ladies will make her a better player as they prepare for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada later in the year.
Reacting to the striker’s transfer, Okon said: “What else do we expect from a talented player like Oshoala who has done so well to be voted the African Woman Footballer of the Year by CAF? It was a good move and we should all pray for the young girl to succeed in England”.
“What this means is that Oshoala is a talent that the whole world reckoned with and signing for a team like Liverpool shows she has something to offer the team, she needs our support and prayer to succeed and I am sure everyone will do that for her.
Okon however advised the Ikorodu, Lagos born striker to be more disciplined and be more professional in her career as the soccer tactician believes that she will also be of great help to the Super Falcons at the FIFA World Cup in Canada.
Meanwhile, Oshoala has promised to be available when Nigeria when the country travel to Canada for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in June.
