Super Eagles right-back Chibuzor Okonkwo has thumbed up the performance of the players who were selected on Saturday for the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Chad.
The Eagles defeated Chad 2-0 in both countries' first ever meeting in football to start their 2017 African Cup of Nations campaign.
Okonkwo who was invited to the Eagles' camping prior to the final selection by coach Stephen Keshi tells Completesportsnigeria.com that he always believed the Eagles will not find Chad too difficult to overcome.
"The game was a nice one. You could see that the players never underrated the Chadian team," he said.
"I was very confident anyway that we would win this game and the boys today played wonderfully."
Okonkwo says he is not disappointed not to be selected as one of the home-based players that made Keshi's team.
"I'm happy that I was in the camp prior to this game; that counts for something. It means I can still play for the country. I want to thank coach Stephen Keshi.
"We have to look forward now. We have Egypt and Tanzania in the group. Those will be tough games and we have to play each game as if our lives depended on it,"the Ifeanyi Ubah FC defender tells Completesportsnigeria.com.
Nigeria's next 2017 AFCON qualifying game is an away game against Tanzania on September 6, 2015.
