Rangers winger Osas Okoro has admitted that Home Eagles skipper and Nigeria's Premier League top scorer Gbolahan Salami will be sorely missed after the player opted out of the African Nations Cup Championship billed to kick off in a fortnight in Rwanda.
But Okoro was delighted U-23 star, Usman Mohammed, made the squad for the tournament meant for players based in their domestic leagues.
Okoro, who is one of the eight midfielders in the 23-man Nigeria squad for the tournament, told Completesportsnigeria.com the wealth of experience of Salami in the team would have counted if he was available.
"We will surely miss him no doubt," Okoro who has four caps for the senior national team said.
"He the currently the league top scorer and he would have given the team options in attack but I am confident in the strikers we have to score goals."
On the chances of the team winning the title, Okoro said 'nothing is impossible'.
"We qualified because we have a good team and every team heading into a tournament like this will dare to win it, I'm not a pessimist," he told Completesportsnigeria.com.
