Oliseh Resumes Next Week, To Recall Haruna

By Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles new coach Sunday Oliseh is expected to resume work with the national team next week when he arrives in the country, a top source in the Nigerian Football Federation has told completesportsnigeria.com.

Oliseh will meet with his backroom staff before the squad list for the home-based players is released for the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Tanzania in Dar-es-Salaam.

His first assignment will be away to Tanzania in a 2017 AFCON qualifier in September. The Eagles are currently second in their group behind Egypt.

Meanwhile, after spending five years away from the Super Eagles, Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Lukman Haruna is poised to be recalled by Oliseh, completesportsnigeria.com has exclusively gathered.

The Dynamo Kiev loanee, who has been overlooked by past coaches after featuring at the 2010 World Cup, is one of the new players Oliseh is banking on to win his first game against Tanzania in Dar-es-Salaam .

Oliseh is also pondering who to play in the attacking midfield role between Haruna and AS Trencin’s Rabiu Ibrahim, a top source in the Nigerian Football Federation has also told completesportsnigeria.com.

Also expected to earn his first call-up is Russia-based FC UFA forward Sylvester Igboun, who scored eight goals for FC Midtjylland last term in the Danish Super Lig.

“Sunny wants fresh legs that will play with hunger for the national team and also get results, and I think Lukman and Igboun are being considered for the game,” the well placed source added.

“Players such as John Ogu, Anderson Esiti and the prominent members are also expected to feature in his list.”

We need our best players. Haruna is good and he needs to swallow his pride this time around, it might be his last opportunity. Go Super Eagles.

  2. What is this issue with 'swallowing of pride'! Has the guy ever been rude to you? I can count a million other players who are more troublesome than him in the Eagles. Get a life if you no nothing about football.

Sam or what do you call yourself, you lack manners and if you don’t have anything to do with your miserable life you can jump into the river instead of coming to insult people on social media. Everybody is entitled to his own opinion. You can go and find out about Haruna Lukman and his attitude in the past, most especially during his under 20 days. Do you know why some of the coaches did not invite him? Did I say he should not be invited? Please get your facts before you open you dirty mouth.

Haruna has no pride. He was only chewing gum. He did nothing and he was one of our best players in the world cup 2010. Stephen keshi was a biazed man.

Thanks Danorous, I really want him in the team because we need a play maker and I only want him to be cautious this time around. I read so many things about why Samson Siasia did not invite him and even Keshi said similar things, that informed why I said he should swallow his pride. He was a young player at the period he appeared at 2010 world cup and people expected so much from him but look at his career. He is now on loan at an unknow club and I want him to get it right this time around.
