Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi, has stated in clear terms that her team will take on their West African rivals Ghana in their Wednesday's Women's Africa Cup of Nations Group B clash in Limbe like any other team in the competition as they bid to defend their title, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Omagbemi, a three time winner of the competition as a player could make history for herself – becoming the first ever player to win the competition as a player. SHe insists that the rivalry between both teams won't deter her team from gunning for victory on Wednesday against Ghana in their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Group B clash.
“We are happy, we won the first game against Mali and we are trying to refocus our game plans and mindset,” Omagbemi tells journalists after her team's preparation in Beau.
“We are playing Ghana in our next game, the communication with the group is that we are done with Mali and we have started preparing for Ghana.
“Every coach has their own style of controlling the team, that is the mindset of the Ghanaian coach.
“All the teams in Cameroon are here to compete for the title, and if the coach says they want to compete with Nigeria, its fine.
“We are here to defend our trophy, we will take them on the match day. We are taking on Ghana like every other team in the championship and we will approach the game with our plans.
“The rivalry is not our problems but the game, I don’t want to focus on the distraction off the field but the game and my team.”
