Super Eagles midfielder Paul Onobi is close to linking up with his hometown club, Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The former Enyimba player Completesportsnigeria.com scooped is keen on a reunion with his former boss at Sunsshine Stars, Mike Idoko, who recently took over as chairman of the Makurdi-based outfit following the resignation of Dominic Iorfa.
"Paul is close to joining Lobi Stars," a reliable source close to the player informed Completesportsnigeria.com.
"He has a special relationship with Mike Idoko, the man who took him to Sunshine Stars when he was chairman of the club and it is difficult for him to refuse the call to play for Lobi.
"It's going to be a tough battle for Sunshine Stars to keep him at the club as his mind is set on the move."
Onobi's impressive showing for Sunshine Stars in the Glo Premier League last season earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles.
He made his debut for the three-time kings of Africa against Swaziland last year.
He was also part of the home-based Super Eagles side that failed to make it beyond the group stage at the recently concluded African Nations Championship in Rwanda.
