Liverpool were the victors of the 225th Merseyside derby on Wednesday at Anfield after their 4-0 win against a ten-man Everton side.
Divock Origi, Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge and Phillipe Coutinho were the scorers for the Reds on the night as Jurgen Klopp’s men continue their impressive performances in recent weeks.
The corresponding fixture on October 4, 2015 at the Goodison Park had ended 1-1.
Everton had to finish the game without defender Ramiro Mori after his horrific tackle on Divock Origi left the Belgian in pains and stretchered off.
Liverpool through Adam Lallana, Phillipe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, resorted to long range efforts to score and their pressure eventually paid off in the 43rd minute as Divock Origi scored when he latched on to a cross by James Milner and from close range he planted a header that went into the bottom left corner, leaving Joel Robles beaten.
Mamadou Sakho made it 2-0 in added time of the first half with another fine header.
Daniel Sturridge ensured all three points were in the bag with 29 minutes left on the clock, firing past Robles after an exchange of good passes. Liverpool 3-0 Everton.
Phillipe Coutinho then scored the fourth goal in the 76th minute. The Brazilian received a pass at the edge of the box and fired a shot to the bottom right corner.
