Rangers International of Enugu defender, Kalu Orji, hopes the club can end their long wait for a first Nigeria Professional Football League title at the end of the current season, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
The Flying Antelopes, once a dominant force in the NPFL, last won the title in 1984.
The likes of Enyimba and Kano Pillars have dominated the local season in recent past.
But the Coal City side seems ready for the challenge this term following their impressive start to the campaign.
They sit at the top of the table with 10 points following three wins, one draw and a defeat from their opening five games of the season.
“I know it is too early to start talking about winning the title, but we strongly believe we can do it this year,” the Nigeria international told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We have played well so far in all our matches this season and everyone is looking to fight on till the end of the season.
“Winning the league is not an easy task, but I believe we have a squad strong enough to win it.
“It will be great to write our names in history by becoming the first side to win it after a long, long time.”
