Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, put up a fine performance as Arsenal Ladies beat their Chelsea counterparts 1-0 to win the 2016 Women’s FA Cup, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
It was her first major piece of silverware since she joined Pedro Losa’s side from Liverpool in January.
The Gunners looked good in the opening exchanges with Oshoala and Danielle Carter causing problems on the wings for Chelsea.
Carter put Arsenal ahead in the 18th minute.
The winger skipped past her marker and hit a powerful shot into the top corner.
Oshoala missed a glorious chance to increase her side’s lead two minutes before the break when she was set up by Kelly Smith but she failed to put the ball home.
Arsenal came close to scoring three minutes after the break when Oshoala delivered a good cross for Smith but her effort hit the woodwork.
Nigerian-born English international, Eniola Aluko, was introduced by Chelsea in the 55th minute.
Oshoala was booked in the 82nd minute for a trip on So Yun.
She was substituted two minutes before the end of the game with Leah Williamson taking her place.
