Commonwealth 2014 boxer and 2012 National Sports Festival gold medallist, Otto Joseph, emerged the best boxer at the fourth edition of the GOtv Boxing Night on Sunday.
The fourth edition which took place inside the Indoor Sports Hall, National Stadium, Lagos, saw Joseph overcome his opponent Nurudeen Fatai via unanimous decision, after a gruelling eight round contest in a national light weight challenge.
For emerging the best boxer for the night, Joseph went home with the star prize of N1 million and the Mojisola Ogunsanya trophy.
Speaking with Completesportsnigeria.com, Joseph expressed delight after being named the best boxer.
“I feel happy, I feel excited for emerging the best boxer. I never thought I would be awarded as the best boxer because there were other top boxers who took part in this championship,” Joseph told Completesportsnigeria.com.
He stated that he will continue to work hard in order to achieve his target in professional boxing.
“I will not relent until I get to the top. This is just the beginning for me,” Joseph added.
Meanwhile, in other bouts on the night, Jamiu Olabode defeated Pelumi Sodubi via technical decision; while two-time best boxer of the GOtv Boxing Night, Olaide Fijabi, knocked out Saheed Olayiwola.
Waidi Usman beat Taofeek Bisuga via knockout, while Stanley Eribo and Isaac Ekpo recorded knockouts against Isiaka Yusuf and Jules Kabore of Burkina Faso respectively.
