Nigerian men's basketball team captain, Olumide Oyedeji, has expressed happiness over the proposal by the United States of America basketball team to play Nigeria in a 2016 Olympic Games build-up match, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Americans, who will also play China twice as part of their preparations, will play Venezuela before meeting D'Tigers, the African champions, in their last preparation game.
According to the schedule, the United States of America Men's Team will play Nigeria's D'Tigers on August 1in Houston.
Speaking ahead of the game, Oyedeji who currently plays in England says the game will help the Nigerian team to get ready for Rio.
"America is regarded as the best basketball playing nation in the world and if they can call Nigeria that 'hey, we want to play a friendly game with you as part of preparation for the Olympics', I will say it is a welcome idea and it will help our team to prepare well for the Olympics," Oyedeji told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"We have some players in the US who will also want to be part of the game and it will be a great opportunity for the coaches to see these players. Aside from the game, the team can also use the quality facilities in the US to prepare for the Olympics, so it is a big opportunity for us."
Nigeria also played the United States of America at the London Olympics but it was the Americans that won the game with a huge margin.
Meanwhile, D'Tigers will face Argentina, Spain and Lithuania at the Rio Olympic Games scheduled for the summer.Uncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
