Pillars, Enyimba claim away Glo League win

By Nurudeen Obalola:

Glo Nigerian Premier League champions, Kano Pillars, and last season's runners-up Enyimba both moved up the log on Sunday after bagging impressive victories away from home.

Pillrs defeated Abia Warriors 1-0 in Umuahia while Enyimba beat Dolphins 2-1 in Port Harcourt to account for the two away victories of week nine.

In the battle between two former powerhouses in Ibadan, Enugu Rangers were pegged back for a 1-1 draw by Shooting Stars after the visitors had taken the lead.

The only goal in Umuahia was scored by Pillars' Adamu Hassan in the first half.

Two early goals from Festus Austin (own goal in the sixth minute) and Markson Ojobo (seventh minute) put Enyimba ahead before Dolphins pulled one back through Omo Johnson in the 21st minute.

League leaders Sunshine Stars held Nasarawa United to a 1-1 draw in Lafia, while high-flying Giwa played a 0-0 draw with Taraba in Jos.

Newcomers Gabros kept up their impressive run by defeating Sharks 1-0 in Nnewi with Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi watching.
