What was supposed to be a fitting end to the 11th All African Games here in Congo Brazzaville was rubbished by rain which fell minutes before the closing ceremony could get underway, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The entire Sports Complex at Kintele had been buzzing all afternoon with families savouring the final day of the event.
All formalities for grand event were on course as traditional dancers, callistenics, different cultural groups had arrived the complex as early as 9 a.m.
School children and all the dance troupes even took break fast and launch at the complex so as to avoid any last minute hitches.
Security personnel, including soldiers, police and other paramilitary outfits had cordoned off entry and exit points with visitors subjected to thorough searches.
It was a special festivity of some sort as everyone eagerly anticipated the closing ceremony which preparation got underway four days ago.
Ironically, while special guests were arriving and getting seated, the heavens opened their bowl, starting with windy atmosphere.
Traffic was at logjam coming from the capital city, Diata, Ngamakosso and Kintele.
This prompted many to find their ways back home while most journalists either trapped on the way or yet to leave their respective hotels stayed behind.
However, the closing ceremony eventually took place but without the anticipated flair, fun, pomp and pageantry that usually climax a well attended sports festival like the 11th All Africa Games, Congo Brazzaville 2015.
