Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi was in action on Wednesday night in Chelsea's 2-1 defeat against Paris Saint Germain in the second leg of both sides' Round of 16 games.
The first leg in Paris two weeks ago also ended by same scoreline which now sees Laurent Blanc's team advancing on a 4-2 aggregate win.
Mikel who scored Chelsea's goal in the first leg was efficient for his team but got booked in the 52nd minute of the game by referee Felix Brych for a foul on Loucas Moura.
The French champions had a goal scored by Zlatan Ibrahamovic soon afterwards ruled out for offside.
PSG took the lead in the 16th minute and extended their aggregate lead when midfielder Adrien Rabiot directed the ball into the back of the net with the assist coming from Ibrahimovic.
Diego Costa picked up a pass deep inside the PSG box and levelled for Chelsea in the 27th minute with an accurate shot to the bottom left corner. It was the 209th goal in the UEFA Champions League this season.
Any hopes by Chelsea to advance to the quarter finals was seemingly over when Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted PSG's second goal of the night in the 67th minute, steering the ball home from close range from an Angel Di Maria cross.
