Nigeria champions, Enugu Rangers, on Saturday October held a victory parade round major streets in the Coal City which brought commercial activities in the south Eastern state to a deadlock, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Rangers are celebrating after winning the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League title, their first since 1984.
Earlier scheduled to commence at 7am, the triumphant Coal City Flying Antelopes did not leave their transit camp at Emene, near Enugu until 10.25 am.
The vehicular train crawling less than snail speed passed through Abakpa Nike, Trans Ekulu, New Market, Main Market/Coal Camp, Agbani Road/Zik's Avenue, Obiagu Road, Independence Lay Out, Nza Street/New Haven, Ogui Road and finally at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Completesportsnigeria.com reports that residents lined up the team's routes and poured all manner of names on the players and their officials who won Rangers' first league title in 32 years.
Former Rangers players like Amaechi Igweobi 'Darkness' were on hand at the Cathedral to receive the players.
Former Nigeria captain and Technical Director of the club, Christian Chukwu, Rangers head coach Imama Amakapabo as well as General Manager of the club, Ozor Paul Chibuzor, were part of the victory train.
Ozor told Completesportsnigeria.com duri
"His Excellency has other state engagements as well as the commissioner for sports, Charles Ndukwe," Ozor said.
"But the commissioner was with us at the take-off point before joining the governor in his engagement.
"In the coming days, his excellency will receive the team at the government house.
"We couldnt have done this without government support. We needed to say thank you to the people who supported all through the season to record this achievement.
"We're grateful to them all and pray they continue to support Rangers in our efforts to win the CAF Champions League next year whose preparation will commence immediately."
