Nigerian champions Enugu Rangers are not willing to part company with their Nigeria Professional Football League title-winning coach, Imama Amapakabo, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Rangers won the 2015/2016 NPFL title on Sunday at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu after a 4-0 thrashing of El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in the final match day 38 fixture of the season, breaking a 32-year dry spell.
Rangers have decided to reward Amapakabo, 49, with a new contract after the previous one expired.
"We're talking about plans for the next season as regards preparation for the CAF Champions League and the domestic league," Charles Ndukwe, Enugu State Commissioner for Sports reacted when completesportsnigeria.com sought his views on suggestion that Amakapabo's contract with the Nigeria champions has run out.
"Even Imama himself said on Sunday that what is uppermost in his plans now is adequate preparation for next season.
"That alone confirms that he is willing to stay as we are determined to work with him because continuity is key to success."Unblock the FIFA World Cup with ExpressVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
