Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that Algerian forward Islam Slimani is set for his Premier League debut on Saturday as the champions welcome Burnley to the King Power Stadium.
The Algeria forward impressed for Foxes against Club Brugge in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash in Brussels, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Italian gaffer also praised Burnley for their decent start to the new season.
Ranieri who will be welcoming Jeffrey Schlupp and Danny Simpson back to the squad however ruled out Nampalys Mendy for the clash.
“I don’t know if Slimaini is ready for 90 minutes but it’s important for him to understand the spirit of the Premier League,” Ranieri said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“Danny Simpson trained very well and he’s ready to play. Papy Mendy needs an more time.
“It’s a tough match [against Burnley]. We know very well that it will be a battle.
“For us everything is new. I want to see how my players respond. They told me they are OK and they must show this on the pitch.
“I’m so pleased with our performance because after the Liverpool defeat I was expecting something. We played well in Bruges.
