Rohr: We Will Help Troost-Ekong Get  A Befitting Club

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja :

Nigeria senior team technical adviser Gernot Rohr has told Super Eagles central defender William Troost-Ekong that he must move to a bigger club in a bigger league in Europe to match his soaring form and  improve his game, Completesportsnigeria.com.

Rohr who led the Super Eagles to a heartwarming 3-1 victory over Algeria in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Saturday, told Completesportsnigeria.com in Abuja on Monday that Troost-Ekong who plies his trade in Norway should be playing in one of the top leagues of Europe

"Ekong just have to change club. He must play at a higher level. He wants to go to a Belgium club, but he just has to play at a better level. He just finished a season in Norway, but his game has outgrown the club he intends going to, and I think we have to help him get a  club at higher level to improve his game," Rohr tells Completesportsnigeria.com

"We have to do it quietly because it is not official work of a national team coach, but I know clubs in the higher leagues would be willing to give him offer. Ekong and  Balogun have impressed me in their partnership in the Eagles central defence. So we must find ways to help them improve better."

Rohr continues: " I am satisfied with the two central defenders that played against Algeria and I believe they can only improve with time, but I will be going to search and monitor players in Europe to strengthen the Eagles defense ahead of the World Cup qualifiers next year."

Finally, the NFA has come to their senses in appointing a superb  couch . Nigeria  is sending a clear message to the soccer world that we are back. Our rivals have written  us off for long given the fact that the funny  Fifa rate Nigeria  as 14th  in Africa and 60th in the world. They very easily  forget the fact that our rate of turnover in football  is very high. There are probably 6 million Nigerians  the world over playing football. Whatever happens  this time around,  this venerable  coach should be  given a lengthy  contract so that he can help mold a solid team and at the same time try to  help a player like Michel Obi, the present  skipper so that when he retired as a player  he can take up the mantle  of the national  coach.  God bless Nigeria and  in the same breath punish the evil doers who call themselves  the Ruling Class. Thieves.

  4. @peter nice comments but you ended badly.
