Ronaldo Missing, Iheanacho On As Man City, Madrid Draw

Manchester City and Real Madrid played a drab 0-0 draw in the first leg, semi-final of the UEFA Champions League at the Etihad on Tuesday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo was not fit enough to play for Real Madrid and the Spaniards struggled without the Champions League top scorer.

The first half saw both sides failing to create any meaningful goalscoring opportunities.

And with three minutes remaining in the first half, David Silva was replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho, after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Prior to the start of the second half, Madrid made their first change, with Jese replacing Karim Benzema.

The first real chance of the game fell to Sergio Aguero in the 46th minute but his left shot went just over the bar.

In the 69th minute Kevin De Bruyne’s low cross from a City corner, was well claimed by Keylor Navas.

A minute later Jese connected with Carvajal’s cross only to see his header hit the cross bar.

Gareth Bale, in the 75th minute, aimed a left curler which narrowly missed the target.

Hart came to City’s rescue in the 79th minute, stopping Casemiro’s header from a corner with his left leg.

Hart made another superb save on 82 minutes, blocking Pepe’s goal bound shot from close range.

In the 92nd minute, Navas tipped De Bryune’s direct free-kick over the bar

The return leg comes up on Wednesday 4th May at the Santiago Bernabeu.
