World champions Germany defeated Czech Republic 3-0 in a Russia 2018 qualifier in Munich on Saturday night.
A brace from Thomas Muller and another sublime strike from Toni Kroos gave Joachim Low’s men an easy win in Group C.
In Group F, England continued their 2018 World Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over Malta. First half goals from Daniel Sturridge and Dele Alli ensured Gareth Southgate began his interim campaign as England boss on a winning note.
Scotland and Lithuania played out a goalless draw while Slovenia edged Slovakia by a lone goal.
In other results, Maksim Medvedyevs 11th minute strike handed Azerbaijan a 1-0 win over Norway. Armenia lost 5-0 to Romania while Montenegro spanked Kazakhstan by the same margin.
In Poland, the Polish side beat Denmark 3-2 in a five-goal thriller with Robert Lewandowski bagging a hat-trick.
Ireland defeated San Marino 4-0 in their game in Dublin. A brace from Kyle Lamerton and other strikes from Jamie Ward and Steve Davies sealed a comfortable win for the Irish men.
