Gbolahan Salami has paid tribute to Stephen Keshi and vowed that his best days are still to come for the Super Eagles following his second half goal against Chad in last Saturday’s AFCON qualifier in Kaduna.
The Warri Wolves forward who has bagged five goals so far this term in the Nigerian Professional Football League believes that he is about to hit his peak for the three-time AFCON champions.
“I still believe I can get better as a footballer,” Salami told completesportsnigeria.com during an All Stars game in Lagos on Wednesday.
“I’m a different player now and I feel these could be the best moments of my career.”
Salami then revealed reasons why he ran to the bench to celebrate with coach Stephen Keshi after his goal against Chad.
“He is the reason for my drive on the football pitch,” he explained. “Despite being a home-based player, he treats me like every player who comes from Europe.”
The former Enyimba and Sunshine Stars forward also revealed that he has no trouble playing in whatever position he is asked to by Keshi and that he would be happy to continue playing from the flanks.
He added: “I know I’ve the qualities to play any role in attack because I’ve done it comfortably. It’s down to the manager and I’ll accept it.”Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria
