Newcastle United forward Sammy Ameobi has finally joined Championship side Cardiff City on a season-long loan deal.
Ameobi, who is eligible to play for the Super Eagles like his elder brother Shola, made his debut for Newcastle in 2011, away at Chelsea. He will now feature for the Bluebirds for the 2015/2016 season after renewing his contract with the Magpies.
A statement on Tuesday on Newcastle's official website confirmed the move. "Sammy Ameobi has joined Cardiff City on a season-long loan deal, after signing a new contract with Newcastle United," the statement said.
"The 23-year-old winger has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at St. James' Park, and will now spend the 2015/16 campaign in South Wales, turning out for the Bluebirds in the Championship."
The former England junior international has made 67 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions, scoring four goals, and previously spent time on loan at Middlesbrough.
Reacting to the move, Ameobi expressed his delight joining Cardiff City.
He wrote on his twitter handle: "Delighted to join @CardiffCityFC for the season, can't wait to get started #bluebirds."
