Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo is poised to emulate the feat of two-time African Footballer of the Year, Nwankwo Kanu, at Dutch Eredevisie giants, Ajax.
The French striker of Ivory Coast heritage will be unveiled on Friday at the club where Kanu, alongside another former Eagles star, Finidi George, shone and became winners of the UEFA Champions League in 1995.
The 22-year-old forward on Thursday admitted that he hopes to achieve the feats of former Ajax strikers, Nwankwo Kanu and Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovich.
“The manager from Amsterdam called me last week and said: ‘I want you to play for us, for Ajax’,” Sanogo told a Dutch TV station.
“I’m very happy because I didn’t think I will play for a big club like Ajax so I have to work hard to play. Now I go for medical.
“My reference is Zlatan and Kanu- legends who played for Ajax.
“I hope to score a lot of goals.”
