–Eagles assistant Coach believes friendlies will help team
Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmu has expressed confidence that the team will not be absent from the 2017 AFCON.
The Eagles missed out of this year’s edition in Equatorial Guinea after being held to a 2-2 draw by South Africa in their last group game.
Speaking with Complete Sports, Shorunmu stated that the players are focused towards qualifying for the 2017 edition.
“We are focused ahead of the 2017 AFCON and I want to say here that we are not going to miss out. It pains me that we were not at the last edition,” says Shorunmu.
Shorunmu pointed out the international friendly matches against Uganda and South Africa will provide the players with the right preparation ahead of the qualifiers, also promising that they will not underrate any team.
“The friendly games we are playing now will help the players to prepare for the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.
“We will definitely not underrate any team we meet in the course of the qualifiers.”
The Eagles will take on Uganda today at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, in Uyo, before travelling to Nelspruit to face South Africa.
