–Says Eagles will reclaim their lost title in two years time
By Bamidele Boluwaji:
Super Eagles goalkeepers’ trainer Ike Shorunmu believes that with more international friendly games, the senior national team will keep improving, saying the effort will pay off at the 2017 African Cup of Nations when the team will be strong enough to reclaim the title they could not defend at the 2015 edition in Equatorial Guinea.
The Super Eagles made up of largely home based players returned to the country after they lost 1-0 to Cote d’Ivoire and beat Yemen national team 2-0 in the two international friendly games played in Abu Dhabi and UAE recently and Shorunmu believes that the experience will help the players a lot.
“We all know the importance of friendly matches to any team even if we are not doing that to prepare for any tournament but I can tell you that it has added to the quality and exposure of the players. They will keep improving with more games”, begins the Super Eagles goalie to the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan.
“What we are doing now is to prepare this team for the future and I must thank the FA for the opportunity they provided because in the next few months, this team would be more than what you are seeing today and that is why we are calling on the people in authority to still assist more in the area of more friendly games.
Shorunmu however thanked the football house while urging Super Eagles players to continue working hard and always ready to give their best whenever they are called upon for national assignment. “I can only thank the FA and also urged the players to keep doing their best”, he concludes.4years ago My wife left me,because i was too WEAK in bed,but today she calls me Bed Champion. Now i finally discovered a Natural Solution that forces women to ask for more.
