Siasia Drops Awoniyi, Alampasu; Names 20 For AAG

Nigeria U-23s coach Samson Siasia has left out Taiwo Awoniyi and Dele Alampasu from his 20-man squad for the All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.

Siasia included KV Oostende’s new signing Godwin Saviour and Uniao de Madiera of Portugal midfielder Shehu Abdullahi despite the their clubs’ refusal to release the duo for the games.

Turkey-based Umar Aminu and skipper Azubuike Okechukwu will join the squad directly in Congo.

The U-23 Eagles are due to depart Abuja Monday afternoon on board a chartered flight.

They are drawn in Group B along with Ghana and Senegal after Egypt withdrew from the tournament.

Goalkeepers: Emmanuel Daniel, Yusuf Mohammed, Jimoh Lucky Abdullahi

Defenders: Erhun Obanor, Segun Oduduwa, Mustapha Abdullahi, Sodiq Atanda, Seth Sincere, Semiu Laidi

Midfielders: Azubuike Okechukwu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ndifreke Effiong, Kingsley Sokari, Shehu Abdullahi

Strikers: Godwin Saviour, Junior Ajayi, Daniel Etor, Austin Oladepo, Umar Aminu, Christian Pyagbara
