Nigeria U-23s coach Samson Siasia has stated that Kelechi Iheanacho and Dele Alampasu are still in his plans for the Olympic Games in Brazil.
Siasia told completesportsnigeria.com on Saturday in Abuja that Iheanacho will at a point in the African qualifiers be required to play for the team pointing out that the non-inclusion of the Manchester City forward in the games against Congo does not mean that he is out of the team.
“Iheanacho is a player after my heart and I know when to use him,” Siasia told completesportsnigeria.com. “For now, we have a lot of players who play the same role with him. I will try them out and see how they will fare, but Iheanacho is always going to be in the team.”
Siasia stated that Alampasu was dropped for reporting to camp one day after repeated warnings given to him and members of the U-20 team to report camp or be dropped, adding that he will consider the Under-17 World Cup-winning goalkeeper in future invitations.
The former Super Eagles coach also disclosed that the dropping of Alampasu is not because of pressure from Nigerians who questioned his qualification to warrant being in the team due to an undisciplined attitude.
