Nigeria U-23s head coach Samson Siasia has expressed hope that his team will do well at this year's Olympics despite facing setbacks in their preparations towards the games.
The team was expected to depart for Manaus from Atlanta, United States of America, on Monday but as at Wednesday night were yet to leave just 24 hours to their first match against Japan.
In a chat with Brila FM, Siasia admitted that though the team have not had the best of preparations, he is optimistic past experience will see them through.
"Everything in life is about preparation. We didn't have the best of preparation," he said.
"We qualified for the Olympics through difficulties. In Senegal, no jersies, no funds but we still went on to win the tournament.
"Hopefully we will go on to do well in Rio."
The U-23 Eagles will take on Japan in their first game in the early hours of Friday.
