Enyimba International travel to Egypt this weekend as they bid to reach the second round of the 2015 CAF Champions League and midfielder Kingsley Sokari is hoping his team will have a spirited display in the return fixture against Smouha SC who they defeated 1-0 in the first leg in Aba.
A lone goal from substitute Cameroonian Raphael Boumsong on March 15 gave Enyimba a slim advantage in the race for the group stages of the competition.
Ahead of the return leg this weekend, Sokari, who was invited to the Super Eagles team for the two international friendlies against Uganda which the Cranes won 1-0 on Wednesday, and South Africa coming up on Sunday, spoke to Completesportsnigeria.com on his expectations from his team in Egypt.
“The first leg was a very tense game for us, but we are thankful that it ended with a victory for us. Of course, we wanted to score more goals but we couldn’t quite do that.
“My hope is that we are able to avoid defeat in the return leg. We know that north African teams could be hard nuts to crack away, but hopefully, we shall get the result we want and advance to the next round,” the midfielder told Completesportsnigeria.com
“Aside the Super Eagles, I have always wanted to do well for Enyimba in the CAF Champions League and Federation Cup and I pray that this year will bring good tidings for us,” ‘Bobby’ as he is also called by the Peoples Elephants faithful revealed.
Enyimba coached by Kadiri Ikahana, who led them to win the 2003 CAF Champions League title defeated Benin Republic’s Buffles du Borgou 4-0 on aggregate in their first round qualifying games. With 1xBet you get High Odds, Fast Payouts, Wide Selection of Sports Events, Online Streaming and Huge Bonuses... sign up now.
