Sunshine Stars players refused to train on Saturday, protesting the non-payment of their salaries and bonuses.
The players, completesportsnigeria.com scooped, are owed four months salaries and 10 match winning bonuses (five from last season and five from this season).
The players returned from their four-day mid-season break on Friday and started the agitation for the payment of their entitlements.
The Akure Gunners who currently occupy the top position in the Glo Premier League are looking for their first domestic title.
It remains to be seen if the players’ action will derail the club’s title bid.
The majority of the clubs in the Nigerian top flight have struggled to pay their players’ salaries this season.
Sunshine Stars, Warri Wolves, Taraba United and Shooting Stars are some of the clubs owing their players over four months salaries.
