By Adeboye Amosu In Akure:
Sunshine Stars of Akure have confirmed they will appeal the six-match ban imposed on their captain, Sunday Abe, by the League Management Company, completesportsnigeria.com can report.
Abe, a former junior international, according to the league body was handed the suspension for headbutting and kicking centre referee Joseph Ogabor who officiated the match day 28 fixture between his side and Shooting Stars in Ibadan.
Team Manager of the club, Aborowa Gabriel, disclosed to completesportsnigeria.com that they will lodge an appeal with LMC to reduce the ban.
“What happened in Ibadan was not good for the development of the game in the country,” he told completesportsnigeria.com on Sunday at the Akure Township Stadium.
“Though we have seen an improvement in the quality of officiating this season, the LMC need to do more to ensure referees do their jobs appropriately.
“It’s unfortunate that we will not be with our captain at this crucial time of the season.
“We will appeal his suspension, hopefully, the LMC will see reason with us and reduce it,”
