—Kwara United Release Ali
By Sab Osuji:
Nigeria Premier League leaders Sunshine Stars of Akure say they will be busy in the week 10 transfer window. The club say they will refresh their squad with four new players before the window closes.
Completesportsnigeria.com was informed that such areas of need include defence, midfield and attack.
Officials of the club resolved on Thursday at a meeting that the club will need to bolster the team in a bid to sustain their tight grip on the top spot of the log.
Similarly, completesportsnigeria.com was informed that the coaching crew has been told to identify players who will be engaged before the transfer window closes.
Wahab Bankole, spokesman of the club, explains: "We're on top of the league table at the moment but we want to ensure we remain there until the end of the season.
"So we've taken a critical look at the club, our performance in the first 10 matches and identified some areas we came a bit short.
"We have told the coaches to look for players who can effectively fill the void. What we are talking about here is a holding midfielder, a left-back, a striker and a central defender."
Meanwhile, Kwara United have released striker Nasiru Ali, completesportsnigeria.com has gathered.
Ali joined the Harmony Boys from Kano Pillars at the start of the season but has not really impressed.
His deprture paves way for Anthony Okemmiri and Isiaka Oladuntoye both of who will now be registered as efforts to ensure the club maintained a strong footing in the league gather pace.
The pair of Okemmiri and Oladuntoye penned a deal with the club at the start of the season.
While Oladuntoye, a defender, played a game before sustaining an injury that kept him out, Okemmiri's registration was not formalised with the league body.
Kwara United started the campaign brightly but appeared to lose grip weeks later hence the resolve of the management of the club to fix all grey areas before the resumption of the league on June 14.
