Five Super Eagles players; Elderson Echiejile, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun all took to the social media immediately after their spirited 3-1 win over Luxembourg at the Stade Josy Barthel in Luxembourg City on Tuesday to Savour their feat, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Yusuf Salisu led side made it two wins from two games in their international friendly games after they defeated Mali in Rouen, France last Friday by a lone goal, and were 3-1 winners over the Red Lions on Tuesday.
Echiejile who was impressive on his return to the starting line up after watching the game against Mali from the bench took was delighted with the atmosphere at the Josy Barthel stadium despite the low turnout.
"Thank God for the win. Few fans but an amazing atmosphere. Thank you all for your support," Echiejile wrote on his Facebook wall.
Kelechi Iheanacho who scored his second international goal for the Super Eagles in his third start on the night tweeted through his Twitter handle, @67Kelechi: "Great team performance today, let's keep winning."
While Alex Iwobi (@alexIwobi) tweeted: "Good win, good team performance against Luxembourg."
William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun also expressed their delight after the match.
Troost-Ekong featured for the Eagles, while Balogun was an unused substitute in the game against Luxembourg.
Ekong (@wtroostekong) tweeted: "Great win tonight against Luxembourg. Happy with another start and another good team performance. Always a proud moment putting on the green and white and playing with my brothers. Time for holiday now."
On his part Balogun described the win as an encouraging way to round off the season while looking forward to the holidays.
"Two games, two wins – good way to end a wonderful season of football 15/16! Holiday mood is on now."
Brown Ideye made up for his earlier miss in the eight minute when opened the scoring nine minutes from half time with an easy tap in after Anthony Morris parried a scorching Ogenyi Onazi shot from the edge of the box to his path.
Iheanacho doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 69th minute after Moses Simon capitalized on an error by Morris to run free of the home defence and square to the England –based forward.
But an error from Kenneth Omeruo in stoppage time let in the impressive Vincent Thill toscore a consolatory goal.
However, the Eagles would have the last word, with Odion Ighalo firing in from close range after good work by Iheanacho.
