Twenty-three Super Eagles players and their coaching crew talked tough as they flew out of Abuja on Thursday for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania aboard an Arik Air plane for Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Taifa Stars, completesportsnigeria.com can report.
The plane, which was delayed for about an hour, finally took off at around 4.20pm Nigerian time, reports completesportnigeria.com’s Johnny Edward who is also on his way to Tanzania.
The flight is expected to be for five hours 10 minutes.
Despite their unimpressive display against Abuja Football College in a test game at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday which they won 3-0, several members of the Super Eagles squad are confident of a better outing on Saturday.
Ahmed Musa who has been tipped to captain the team for the encounter told completesportsnigeria.com before departure at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport that they are prepared for the Taifa Stars.
“We have seen clips of their games and we are well informed of their strengths and hopefully we could exploit their weaknesses,” he said.
Anzhi star Lukman Haruna who could have scored in Wednesday’s test game also hopes to cap his return back to the team with a win.
“I’d be happy if I get a goal in Dar es Salaam. That will be fantastic but winning for the team is the priority for me,” Haruna told completesportsnigeria.com.
Also confident of a win in Tanzania is Werder Bremen’s Anthony Ujah who is yet to score an international goal for the senior national team.
He said: “We just need to take our chances and stay solid.”Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria
