How Super Falcons Rated Vs Ghana’s Black Queens

Reigning champions of the Africa Women's Cup of Nations, the Super Falcons of Nigeria were forced to a 1-1 draw by arch rivals, the Black Queens of Ghana in their second Group B match on Wednesday in Limbe. Completesportsnigeria.com's JOHNNY EDWARD assesses the individual performances of the Super Falcons in the encounter.

Goalkeeper:

Alaba Jonathan – 5‎/10: She had very little to do throughout the encounter. She failed in her major test during the clash as she could not keep out Elizabeth Addo spot-kick after Rita Chikwelu kicked the Black Queens' forward Portia Boakye in the box.

Osinachi Ohale – 4/10: She struggled to contain the Ghanaian forwards and was beaten by Priscilla Okyere in one on one situations.

Onome Ebi – 7/10: Ebi put up another sterling performance in defence for the Super Falcons, but she was rarely tested by the pair of Elizabeth Addo and Portia Boakye who led the attack of the Black Queens.

Ugo Njoku – 6/10: Had a decent game partnering Onome Ebi in the heart of the defence for the Falcons.

Faith Ikidi – 4/10: One of the weakest links in the Super Falcons defence line. Too clumsy in her marking and was easily beaten for pace by the Ghanaian wingers.

Rita Chikwelu – 5/10: Despite her wealth of experience playing for the Super Falcons, Rita Chikwelu struggled to control the Falcons' play from midfield and was guilty of several misplaced passes. She conceded the penalty which restored parity for the Black Queens in the 44th minute. And in the second half, she was replaced by a more energetic Ngozi Okobi in the 60th minute.‎

Halimat Ayinde – 5/10: Ayinde had a q‎uiet game and didn't assert herself strongly. She failed to get her shot on target after being teed up by Asisat Oshoala's on the edge of the box early in the second half.

Franseca Ordega – 4/10: Playing from the left flank, the Washington Wizard forward had little influence in the game and struggled to build attacks by linking with Chioma Wogu. Guilty of squandering a late chance to nick a win from the game.

Asisat Oshoala – 6/10: Oshoala's contribution was rather too minimal all through the game due to the attention she got from the defenders of the Black Queens of Ghana, but she showed commitment with her persistent runs all throughout the encounter.  ‎

Chioma Wogu – 4/10: Making her full debut for the Super Falcons, Chioma Wogu was starved of service but was unfortunate to see her only shot on goal go wide. Made way for Desire Oparanozie.

Osarenoma Igbinova – 4/10: Put up an average performance against Ghana and was not as adventurous as she was in their opening game against Mali.‎

Substitutes:‎

Ngozi Okobi – 6/10:Okobi came into the match in place of Rita Chikwelu. Looked sharp,  but could not deliver the passes to put the forwards through on goal from the midfield.

Uchechi Sunday – 5/10 : Could not break down the cagey Black Queens

Desire Oparanoize – not rated:Barely touched the ball in the last ten minutes when she came on, replacing Chioma Wogu.

Subs not used: Whyte, Akarekor, Iroka, Esther, Obi, Akpa
