Swansea Shock Arsenal, Dent Gunners’ Title Hopes

Alex Iwobi was left out of the Arsenal squad that lost 2-1 at home to Swansea City at the Emirates on Wednesday night.

The Nigerian international who has so far made five appearances for the Gunners in the EPL and ten in all competitions last starred for Arsene Wenger’s side in their 3-2 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford where he was below par.

Ashley Williams’ slight touch on Gylfi Sigurdsson’s free-kick earned Swansea the crucial points to move out of the relegation zone. The goal was Williams’ first goal since March of 2014.

And for Arsenal the defeat was their seventh this season.

Joel Campell justified his selection ahead of Theo Walcot with a clever finish gliding in Alexis Sanchez 25 yards out pass beyond Lukasz Fabianski for the opener.

But Wayne Routledge scored the equaliser for Swansea 17 minutes afterwards when he slid the ball past Petr Cech off a pass from Jark Cork.

At White Hart Lane, Emmanuel Emenike made his fourth appearance for West Ham who beat Tottenham Hotspurs by a lone goal at the Boleyn Ground.

Michail Antonio scored with a near-post header in the seventh minute to maintain Slaven Bilic’s side unbeaten streak in the league in front of their own fans since 22 August. Since then they have taken 23 points from a possible 33.

While his compatriot, Victor Moses was left out of the team that. He has played 16 games for the Hammers scoring once.
