Switzerland Join France In 2nd Round As Albania Make History

Switzerland have qualified for the round of 16 of the Euro 2016 after playing 0-0 against hosts France on Sunday in Lille in their Group A last fixture.

Dimitri Payet, Olivier Giroud, Anthony Martial and Ngolo Kante started from the bench for France as Switzerland secured the needed draw to progress into the first knockout stage.

With the draw, France finished top of Group A with seven points while Switzerland are second with five points.

In Group A’s other game, debutantes Albania shocked Romania 1-0 to earn their first ever win at a major tournament.

The only goal of the game was scored by Armando Sadiku in the 43rd minute.

Albania will now have to wait for the conclusion of other group games to know whether they will be among the four third-placed teams while Romania crashed out.
