Former Super Eagles left back Taye Taiwo hailed the superlative performance of Nigeria's Golden Eaglets in their Round of 16 game against Australia.

Emmanuel Amuneke's team romped to a 6-0 win over the Aussies to set up a quarter-final clash against three-time champions Brazil who themselves defeated New Zealand 1-0.

Taiwo, who plays for HJK Helsinki of Finland spoke briefly to Completesportsnigeria.com on the victory of the Nigeria U17 side.

"Firstly, I want to say congratulations to the boys. That was emphatic. Very good performance," Taiwo told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"But they must realise that was not the final. Now they'll meet a tougher opponents, and Brazil in the quarter-finals will definitely be a strong test. I hope they defeat the Brazilians too and reach the last four.

"In these players, we have good players for the future. After this World Cup, a lot of interests will be on them but they should really concentrate on the World Cup first. Congratulations to all Nigerians," the former U20 World Cup star concluded.
